Based in the Prince of Wales Hospital (PWH), we are a group of allergy-trained clinicians, scientists, nurses and dietitians. Apart from supporting clinical allergy service, we are also committed to translational research, patient education and staff training.
Clinical Service
The team runs the allergy and immunology specialist clinics at PWH and offers individualised treatment plans. Our patients are diagnosed with different allergic conditions - including food allergy, atopic dermatitis, allergic rhinitis and asthma, with varying disease severity. One crucial element of clinical consultations lies in patient education, with refresher training of adrenaline autoinjector competency for food-allergic children as a key aspect.
Translational Research
Allergy research requires laboratory expertise from scientists as well as clinical input from allergists; the former is led by Dr. Christine Yee-yan Wai, and the latter led by Prof. Ting Fan Leung. Our research focuses on food allergy, with shrimp, fish, hen's egg, tree nuts and peanut as the major allergens of interest. Findings from our studies have been published and presented in international journals and conferences.
